The Association plays an active role in Tunbridge Wells politics and also organises a programme of social and political events for its members, supporters and friends. Social events include an annual dinner, summer barbeques, musical and other entertainment nights, supper evenings, strawberry teas, and visits to places of interest.
Officers of the Association are elected annually at the Association's Annual General Meeting. All paid up members of more than three months standing may vote at the Annual General Meeting.
The Officers are responsible for managing the Association on a day-to-day basis. The Executive Council is made up of representatives from each of the Branches of the Association and other bodies
We have a lively Constituency Ladies’ Group that engages in frequent social and community focused events. We hold frequent discussion meetings in partnership with the Conservative Political Forum passing members’ views directly to the Party leadership.
Younger members are encouraged through links with Conservative Future, the largest youth political organisation in the UK. Conservative future engages young people in politics addressing issues that matter to them and also runs a range of events and activities, from policy discussions to social gatherings. Members of our Patrons’ Club have opportunities to dine with and listen to top rate political speakers.
Branches of the Association
Branches are responsible for carrying on the work of the Conservative Party within their own ward or polling district boundaries. They hold their own Annual General Meetings, elect their own Officers, and select Prospective Candidates for Local Government elections. The Association's strength is its Branches, which have a proud history of very effective work. It is the independence and commitment from the Branches that has made the Tunbridge Wells Conservative Association one of the strongest in the country.
